Job Description

Overall Purpose of Job:
Our teachers are expected to secure success through setting high-quality academic standards, and a commitment to student development and care. They will be crucial in helping our school develop a culture that promotes inspired teaching and outstanding learning experiences. They are also expected to take a role in the development and use of existing and emerging learning resources to ensure the continuous improvement of the learning experience and outcomes for pupils; and continuously monitor, evaluate and review the academic performance of the pupils and take any and all action necessary to achieve successful outcomes. As most pupils are expected to go on to top universities abroad, the post holder will be required to demonstrate strong academic knowledge up to and beyond, ‘A’ Level Physics.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Whilst it is impossible to detail every job involved in working at the school, below is a representation of what is involved:

  • Plan and prepare lessons carefully;
  • Make sure that preps. are set regularly (not too little and not too much) and that they are promptly and thoroughly marked;
  • Ensure that the curriculum promotes the vision and aims of the school;
  • Create an environment which secures effective learning across the breadth of the curriculum and to promote high standards of achievement, behaviour, discipline and attendance;
  • Manage and organise relevant groupings of pupils to ensure effective teaching and learning takes place and that pupil’s personal development needs are met;
  • Ensure that the curriculum takes into account the richness and diversity of the
    school’s community;
  • Monitor the quality of pupils’ achievements including the analysis of performance
    data;
  • Ensure effective assessment procedures, including assessment for learning;
  • Set and mark, collate, and evaluate internal examinations at the request of the
    Headteacher;
  • Ensure that pupils’ efforts are rewarded; and
  • Cover for absent colleagues as directed.
