I am pleased to introduce myself as an IBDP Chemistry and IBDP ESS teacher. I have also worked as a part-time online teacher where I teach AP Biology to the students at an International School and College in China. I am also a supervisor of EE (Extended Essays) and IA (Internal Assessment) of IBDP Chemistry and IBDP Environmental system and societies (ESS).

I was a science teacher in the New Castle English Medium School and College in Bangladesh where I gained experience for the first time how to teach the kindergarten, primary (Grade I-V) and secondary (Grade VI-VIII) students. Due to my higher studies (Completion of M.Phil.) I could not continue this job and completed my M.Phil. research degree from the same university in Bangladesh. Then I achieved PhD assistantship in the University of Macau, China.

However, my decision is to pursue teaching as a career is in part due to my desire to make a positive impact on students’ lives. Teaching is a highly rewarding profession, and I cannot think of a better way to contribute to any community. My teaching style is one that incorporates small-group and one-on-one teaching. I would characterize my teaching philosophy with three words: engagement, communication, and empowerment. In my lessons students never just sit and write down what I am saying. On the contrary, we talk, we learn from each other, and everyone has an opportunity to contribute to the lesson. However, my teaching style is focused on student-centered learning, and I provide the best methods and strategies necessary to guide and inform students. When I teach, I incorporate whole class discussion session, differentiated instruction, real world applications and cooperative learning strategies to provide students with the necessary tools to develop critical thinking skills. I incorporate interactive activities, technologies, and manipulatives to strengthen learning and retention of the learning materials. As I have taught in one English medium school in my country before as a science teacher, I have arranged there a science club where the students gained hands-on experience for science-related study. When I taught Biology to the Grade IX students, I have also found a biology-themed fiction work like Jurassic Park and discuss its merits and demerits. Sometimes, I have made a group with my students and help the group to visit a museum, zoo, aquarium, nature center, etc. and for these types of participation students become more practiced, competent, and skillful. I have arranged a biology-focused photographic scavenger hunt where each participant takes pictures of wild animals and wild plants within a framework and possible awards for most unusual, best photographed, etc. have been given to the students. These activities were helpful for my previous students to stay more focused on their studies. I have also arranged several tours to visit the Chemistry laboratory in the University nearest to the school which were so helpful for the students for practical understanding of science lessons. I think these types of practical teaching style is dynamic in this respect constantly evolving as needed to adapt to students’ need. My hope is to leave students with a positive impression of education and to feel they had a teacher who always had their best interests in mind.

My goal as a teacher is to provide high-quality, individualized instruction to meet the unique needs of each student. I aspire to create a learning environment that is inspiring, making my students feel safe and secure. I aim to leave a legacy that other teachers and my students will remember that I was a kind, warm person with a true passion for teaching.
